saw the play "In Dafur" at the goregous Gunthrie "a staged reading of a new play that addresses the humanitarian crisis in the Sudan. Playwright Winter Miller collaborated with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Nicholas D. Kristof to write In Darfur, a provocative account of one fictitious journalist’s quest to deliver an “above the fold” story about Darfur that will force a nation from remote awareness to moral and political outrage. Join us for this searing story of urgency and international significance.". I will be seeing another play this friday about a woman with schizophrenia.

http://www.guthrietheater.org/PLAYSTICKETS/ConcertsEvents/InDarfur/Slideshow/tabid/207/Default.aspx

^----that site has the images from the photo exhabit.

I've decided the men need to be placed on pause. In other news I have to write a paper about what Siham would be like if she was 80yrs old. I'm sorry but that idea doesn't have me smiling from cheek to cheek. I bought some ethiopian food, and learned from the waitress where I can get my own gold necklace in the shape of Africa/or specific countries with my name down the middle...my question is do I get "siham" written down the middle or "hanan". I need to call INS, and ask them how crap I have to go through if I change my name to Hanan prior to applying for my citizenship. Apart of me thinks...what if there was a man who fell in love with me from afar and hes been searching for me...I mean HELLO, if i change my name he wont find me!!!(I hope everyone is laughing at this point, as much as I am). So yeah I watched love jones, and I'm listening to lauryn hill...and in a bit I have to go shopping for treats(for the students who showed improvement).

today i was involved in a tiny car accident. the weather is horrible, and the snow is nasty and wet. the woman behind me couldn't brake and slid. it was scary, and after we double checked with each other i let her go. i wasn't going to fake anything because there was no damage on my car. she thanked me, and i was thankful nothing worse happened. seeing the car just slide from my rear view and knowing that i couldn't move anywhere scared the shit out of me.

THIS is why I hate driving, A
and B, this is why I hate snow/winter.this definitely pushes me to move to a city where it doesn't snow or moving to a large city where i can commute everywhere. chicago is looking really good right now, plus i'm still be close to my lovely family.

I'm heading to Milwaukee tomorrow, I will be there until the 30th maybe even later depending on my mood and cash flow.

oh my...today i placed my last paper for this semester in my professor's mailbox at 8am.

it was beautiful(the paper and morning sun). [tangent]i played jazz music while driving through st.anthony park(i live in what is considered st.anthony park area, in the suburb of lauderdale, which is apart of ramsey county(aka st.paul)...but lauderdale is smaller than tosa in wisconsin...maybe 20blocks,and i'm actually closer to minneapolis downtown(10min);post pictures later as words cannot describe the small country town feel). i love that the twin-cities offers so many different areas..little canada, little somalia,st.anthony park, uptown, dinkytown, etc. if i want to be apart of the college scene i can take a 10min bus ride/5min by car over to dinkytown and chill in the heart of the campus surrounded by bars, clubs, bookstores, and places to eat.i could go to little somalia and have some real homecooked meals, i could go downtown and have some mean thai food and checkout the Gwags(hilarious site by the way). the only thing thats keeping me from making a commitment to the Twins is the amount of traveling i was not able to do because i was always in school. i really want to go back to Ethiopia, and maybe go to Djibouti and parts of Europe. i've also decided that i officially dislike winter, and i don't know if i can live in a state where it snows. [tangent]

i came back, ate some hotcakes, slipped into pjs and jumped into bed;where i read until i fell asleep. wow, reading...for pleasure(it was beautiful folks). now i'm going to download some music, make some mixed cds for my family(billy ocean for dad, dolly parton for mom,lil weezy/bob marley for brother, and a collection of ole school soul/funk/r&b/reggae for ma&pa to enjoy on sundays). i will clean my room slowly, but first i'm going to eat some indian food.
